about me :)

poetry comes from the heart, and i believe it is equally important to read an artist's work as it is to understand why they wrote it in the first place.

i began writing poetry during the pandemic as a creative outlet, and began publishing in late 2021. i was in a few online communities where i could share my poetry, and found some of my closest friends from these experiences. writing is a link, and it truly brings people together.

throughout my experience with poetry, i have found some remarkable poems and poets, some of which i will list below as recommendations. writing poetry is amazing, but reading poetry can be just as exciting.

i am 17 and i am from pennsylvania. when i am not writing poetry, i enjoy listening to music (phoebe bridgers, lizzy mcalpine, taylor swift, ethel cain, tyler the creator, etc.), skiing, playing chess, painting, thrifting, and hanging out with my cat! my favorite movie is the breakfast club and my favorite show is either community or how to get away with murder.

some of my favorite poems are:

- on earth we're briefly gorgeous by ocean vuong

- kal by fatimah asghar

- daedalus, after icarus by saeed jones

- an american sunrise by joy harjo

- untitled 1975-86 by jason b crawford

- interpellation by sam sax

- the consolations of sociobiology by bill knott

- a double standard by ellen watkins harper

- planetarium by adrienne rich

- women whose lives are food, men whose lives are money by joyce carol oates
